NEW ORLEANS -- Gerald Green scored 21 points, and the Phoenix Suns won their third straight game, 94-88 over New Orleans on Wednesday night. Goran Dragic had 20 points and nine assists for the Suns, who are clinging to the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Eric Bledsoe added 16 points and P.J. Tucker 15 for the Suns, who handed the Pelicans their sixth straight loss. Morrow capped the spurt with a transition 3 and a technical free throw after Green argued with officials over a foul call. New Orleans still led by a basket and was looking for more in transition when Beldsoe hustled back on defence, sneaking in from behind to intercept Austin Rivers cross-court pass. Beldsoe then turned and dribbled back across halfcourt before lobbing a long pass to Dragic for a short baseline jumper that tied it at 87 with 2:38 to go. New Orleans had one more brief lead on Tyreke Evans free throw before the Suns surged in front for good. Phoenix scored the first eight points of the game and took its first double-digit lead in the opening period when Tuckers short turnaround jumper made it 19-8. New Orleans responded by scoring the first eight points of the second quarter -- four each by Withey and Rivers -- to pull to 23-22. INDIANAPOLIS -- Washington keeps finding ways to break through old, stubborn barriers. Even in the unlikeliest place of all -- Indiana. Bradley Beal scored 14 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, Trevor Ariza added 22 and the Wizards held off the Pacers with a stout defence over the final 7 1/2 minutes Monday night to get a 102-96 win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. It was Washingtons first second-round win in 32 years. "We know its a tough building to play in. We havent won here in a while," Ariza said after the Wizards snapped a 12-game losing streak in Indy. "Why wouldnt this be the best time to come here and get a win -- in the playoffs?" The Wizards know there is a lot more work to do in this best-of-seven series. Game 2 is Wednesday in Indianapolis. So far, though, things have gone well for the upstart Wizards. After clinching their first playoff berth since 2008, the Wizards have advanced to the second round for the first time since 2005, won at Indiana for the first time since April 18, 2007, and have their first second-round win since April 28, 1982. Washington has opened these playoffs with four straight road wins and put the pressure right back on the top seed in the Eastern Conference. It was absolutely freezing but beautiful outside. JM flew himself from Moncton to Toronto for his day off as he has some personal business to take care of, personal but very exciting! Stuart and I are sharing a dayroom so we can shower and get some emails, and interviews done before our 9 PM bus call. I spent the day outside of the old city and was touring around quite a bit. I never like hanging around the hotel rooms too long, its pretty boring and when youre fortunate to go to as many cities as we do want to take it all in, right?Later that day Stuart, Linda our Merch lady and I set off for dinner. We hit up this place called 495 where every item on the menu is $4.95… Not that were cheap, but we heard that the food was exceptional and it was! I like going for dinner with Stuart, hes always keen on trying new things especially in the beer and wine selections - we enjoyed a few different local IPAs and another from Montreal...9 PM rolled around and the bus was ready to leave for an overnight drive to London Ontario. It was nice to hang out with the technical crew at such an early hour in the evening as opposed to post showtime at 1 AM… These guys are great - like I said beefore quite young, but veterans of the business.dddddddddddd Everybody hit the bunks by around midnight and all was running smoothly… Until the bus pulled over, then crept forward, and pulled over again, then crept forward, and eventually coming to a stop…we blew out our radiator! Of all places to blow out a radiator I could think of no better place than Cornwall, Ontario. Nothing against Cornwall, but its quite a distance from there to our destination of London Ontario. Turns out the situation could have been much worse and we wouldve had to offload all the gear and luggage, etc. but as things go we were able to drive the bus at minimum speed, 75 to 80 km an hour. By the time we got to London it was almost time to do press at radio, so we had to change and clean up quick on the bus, which is never much fun.We met Jeff Martin at FM96 just in time for the first interview… He was driven by our wine manager and good friend Joel. JM, who is an absolute sweetheart by nature is often a grumpy bear before 2 PM and really wasnt in the mood to sing…lol but in true Martin form he pulled it off in pro form. Next we were off to FreeFM just up the road. This was a great set up, with pizza, wings, and some contest winners to boot…it was a half an hour to 45 minute special on the band featuring all tracks and new cuts off the album including the 8+ minute title track! Truly a killer radio event, which we were most appreciative of.We headed back to the London Concert Theatre in time for Sound check and the VIP party. That went off without a hitch and the fans here seem pretty excited for the show tonight. I headed back onto the bus for a much needed nap after our on again off again sleep from Cornwall to here. Come show time everyone was rested, primed, and pumped to blow some minds… I hope Im not sounding arrogant, but the band is really getting in great shape and are pulling off some musical theatrics like we havent done in many many years.Wow! What a show… This is the London Ontario I remember when we first broke in 1991. Here are some of the best from Week Three and players to watch for Week Four: TOP PERFORMERS Andrew Harris, RB, British Columbia (203 YDS, 1 TD, 23 touches at Saskatchewan) - 27-year-old Canadian runner had compiled 3341 yards and 22 touchdowns from scrimmage over the previous two seasons and he burst through with a monster game against the Roughriders last week. He currently ranks fourth in the league in rushing yards (201) and sixth in receiving yards (167). Adarius Bowman, WR, Edmonton (9 REC, 140 YDS, 3 TD vs. Ottawa) - For the second time in three weeks, Bowman has been the star receiver and hes second in the league in receiving yards, with 284, through three games. He had 697 receiving yards in nine games last season, so hes really just picking up where he left off. Troy Smith, QB, Montreal (18-for-32, 309 YDS, 3 TD, 1 INT vs. Winnipeg) - Following two shaky weeks, during which he passed for a total of 341 yards, Smith delivered a strong game in a one-point loss to the Blue Bombers. It was the second 300-yard passing game of Smiths career and the first in which he also threw for three touchdowns. PLAYERS TO WATCH IN WEEK FOUR Mike Reilly, QB, Edmonton - Reilly is off to a very efficient start; not throwing for huge yardage, but someone has to get the ball to Bowman and even though last weeks 256 yards represented a season-high, he is now ranked third in the league with 738 passing yards and has thrown a league-leading seven touchdown passes. Oh, he also gets a matchup against Winnipeg, which has allowed an average of 277.7 yards per game through the air. Brandon Whitaker, RB, Montreal - B.C. is allowing a league-high 131.7 rushing yards per game and Whitaker has rolled up 207 yards from scrimmage on 34 touches over the past two weeks. Hes the reliable option in the Montreal attack, so hell be important for their chances to earn a road win. Kierrie Johnson, WR, Ottawa - A fourth-year CFLer who played in Saskatchewan (for one game) and B.C. previously, Johnson is the Redblacks leading receiver to this point, with 104 yards in two games. This requires a bit of projection, given Ottawas meagre passing attack, but they do go up against Torontos league-worst pass defence and its a little more fun to pick Johnson as a player to watch as opposed to an Argos receiver going up against Ottawas second-worst pass defence. For the referee to assess a penalty shot on this play there had to be absolutely no doubt in his mind that PK Subbans intent was to deliberately displace the goal post.
